Why the CRT is involved
Tequila is a protected appellation of origin. It can only be produced in authorised areas of Mexico and under the official tequila standard.
The CRT inspects and certifies parts of the production and commercial chain, including tequila exports, bottling and drinks that contain tequila.
What registration can involve
The exact route depends on what you are making. A bottled tequila brand, a UK-bottled mixto and an RTD containing tequila do not all follow the same process.
Typical work can include brand details, producer information, agreements, label review, product composition, bottler or manufacturer information and supporting certificates.
When to start
Start before you print packaging or book a production date. Leaving registration until the end is one of the easiest ways to create delays and rework.
Your supplier should understand the intended product from the beginning and tell you which approvals and documents are likely to be needed.
What we do
We help connect the commercial project with the practical compliance steps. That includes recommending the right supply route, supporting registration, coordinating documents and working towards a production-ready delivery.
We keep the language simple. You should know what is happening, what is needed from you and what could hold the project up.
